The Cirrus Logic® Networked-Attached-Storage (NAS) reference design, built around the EP9312 embedded processor, provides network storage and media server suppliers with a comprehensive platform to rapidly develop feature-rich, low-cost NAS products.

The EP9312 is a 200MHz ARM9™ system-on-a-chip integrated with key peripherals for NAS and related media server products. The NAS reference design includes the EP9312 processor, application software and a product reference design that allows ODMs and OEMs to rapidly deliver affordable network storage products. The reference design provides:

  • Low bill-of-material cost via integration of dual IDE controllers, three USB 2.0 full-speed host interfaces and 10/100 Ethernet MAC.
  • Auto-detect software functionality for simple installation and use.
  • Fully featured NAS functionality including printer server, hot pluggable USB storage device support and group/user level security.
  • Linux® board support package
  • Additional integrated peripherals for media server applications including six-channel I²S audio, LCD interface, and 2D graphics accelerator.
